The mystic path is a journey of personal transformation,
and while the goal of the journey is to become our true selves,
we can only do this by letting go of who we are not.
If we wish to experience the fullness of life,
we must cut through layers of illusion that hide the truth of who we really are.
We must reclaim the parts of our self we have denied - the parts that cause us to feel shame, regret, guilt, anger... It is only in loving all the aspects that make up who we are, that we become free to be our true self. If we're only willing to show the world the parts we like and think others will like too, we will not live authentically. Burying the parts of our self we have judged forces us to wear a social mask. We pretend to be someone we are not. We have even fooled ourselves, thinking the imposter is us.
