We put our energy into chasing happiness when it is 
already in our nature to be content, grateful, peaceful… 

We are forced to chase external happiness when our source

of joy (which is within us) is buried beneath our wounds…

Giving freely

 Unconditional love is the only true love.

 If the giver attaches strings to their love,

 both the giver and receiver are bound 

to each other by an unspoken agreement;

an agreement built on fear and dependency.

This kind of love feels wonderful when things

 are good, but very painful when they are not...

Life lessons

Life hands us lessons 
to help us grow...

The peace beyond understanding...

By resting in the unknowing,

you are longer shackled to fear…

Going home

In the silence, we connect to a rich, sacred place 

called our soul.  It is here, we are truly home...

Changing the things we can...

It is in dying to our old ways 

that we come ashore to taste 

the joy of new freedom...

Emotional dependency

 We suffer because, to some degree or another, 

we are all addicted to feeling good and we go to

 great measures to avoid uncomfortableness  

or feelings of emptiness...

We are always seeking the next experience,

person, material thing... that will make us happy.

We feel wonderful when we get what we want

 and desperate when we don't.

It's a breeding ground for dependency.

The way out of suffering is to go inward
and open the door to your soul...

You'll never know how high 
you can soar until

you have tested your wings...

Pulling fear up by the roots

There's nothing more painful than fear.

Though we think our fear is coming from 

our current circumstances, that's not the truth.

Fear stems from insecurities we developed in childhood.

To overcome fear, we have pull it up by the roots.

 Whatever situation is causing you fear at the moment, 

even if you find a solution, something else will come behind it.

We begin to overcome fear, first by not giving into it,

 and second, by examining the roots...

Faith in the unknown...

When we’re afraid and ache for certainty

is the perfect time to just breathe and trust.

It helps to remember that:
Life has it's own beautiful rhythm, 
And because fear clouds our thinking,
things are never what they appear to be...

The spiritual path

Until we let our hearts 

be broken open…

until we become genuine 

and find true humility…

until we learn to follow 

the wisdom of our soul…

until we trust life so much

 that we let go of self-will…

we will not have fully lived...

Letting things be...

Frustration, anxiety, unhappiness, & worry
all stem from a desire for things to be different 
than they are..

Heart wide open...

When you have healed so deeply 

that all that remains is love,

your heart is ready to lend itself 

to the world...

Believing in yourself

 

While on vacation, 

I stumbled upon a studio owned by Emerson... 

an artist I have admired for years. 

He was gracious enough to let me take his picture....

He shared that he is fortunate to do what he loves...

We should all live our dreams rather than settling.

Life wants us to be happy and successful. 

Unworthiness and faulty thinking are what holds us back...

Self-honesty

 

Heaven hides behind

the veil of denial.

When denial is shattered,

the gates will open

and you will be home.
