Change

Sometimes we aren't willing to surrender
our unhealthy behaviors until we are tired
of being chewed up by the consequences of them.

Keeping it real

Until we walk back to
the truth of who we are,
we will never be free.

Healing the past

A crack that begins in childhood
only grows wider as the years pass.
The crack disconnects us from our authentic self. Left untreated,
we are forced to live in survival.
In other words, we are on a never-ending search for a sense of self
through validation from others...

Seeing the goodness...

Depending on the condition of our interior,
we either fear and judge life at every corner
or we merge ourselves with the beauty
of all things...

Living fully

Rental Cottages - Siesta

Until you let your heart
be broken open…

until you become genuine
and find true humility…

until you learn to follow
the wisdom of your soul…

until you trust life so much
 you let go of self-will…

you will not have lived.

Faith

Came across this cute sign - Siesta Key

It feels good when the sun beams
warmth and comfort into our hearts,
but it’s the gray days of uncertainty
that we are given an opportunity
to learn important lessons about
faith, compassion, and surrender.

A new lens

A fun day photographing signs at Siesta Key

Sometimes our world
has to first
be turned upside down
in order for us
to have a panoramic view
of whether we are
fully living or merely existing.

Hidden grace

Don’t judge the world
by the color of your days.
Instead look for the gifts
that are hidden behind
the fabric of pain.

Overcoming fear

A friend made created these.
Aren't they cute?

When you surrender everything,
there will be nothing to lose.
When you have nothing to lose,
you will no longer be afraid.
When you are longer afraid,
the world will belong to you.

Recognizing our gifts

We all have special abilities.
It can be our thirst for adventure,
our compassion for others,
or the peaceful rhythm in which
we dance with life.

It can be our graceful ability
to grow more beautiful with age,
see the world through a lens of
optimism, or live in the moment.

It can be how we weather our storms,
how we turn obstacles into opportunities,
or how we allow our hearts to be open
so the world can come in...

Healing your life

I generally don't alter my photos
except to crop, but recently I
discovered how fun it is to use a filter.
I'm loving the soft, faded look (below)

We've all had hurtful experiences that we didn't know what to do with so we stuffed them down in our gut. Over time, we become affected (infected) by these pockets of buried pain. The more pockets we accumulate, the heavier our lives become. I often hear people say "the past is over so it doesn't matter". That is simply not true! When there's no resolution, pain not only sits in our gut, it disconnects us from ourselves

What most people don't understand is that pain is meant to be healed. Unfortunately we live in a society that prefers to medicate. When we avoid our issues, we not only harm ourselves, but we are teaching our children to do the same. I know this to be true because I lost a child. Even though my daughter was bright, beautiful, an honor roll student, she died of an overdose. I didn't have the tools to heal myself then, let alone know how to deal with my children's pain. I tried to fix things for them by giving and doing too much, but at the same time, ignoring the red flags that were waving in my face. I was too deep in denial about my own pain. By the time I began my healing work, the crack in my daughter's life was too big.

Another thing that is hard for people to grasp is the relationship between our physical bodies and our emotions. When we are emotionally out of balance is when we are most susceptible to disease and illness. If you want your body to heal, you have to address the true cause... unhealed pockets of pain. I know this to be true also because I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 21 years ago. The only treatment I was offered were narcotics (which I declined). There is still no cure for FMS today, but I am symptom free. It is a direct result of doing the emotional work.

I have been blessed with the ability to do important emotional work with women for the last 20 years. I am still in awe of how quickly someone's life begins to transform when they open themselves up to the process.

Imagine your life free of pain; emotional, spiritual, physical… And imagine that the emotional blockages aren't as difficult to release as you think they are. With my heart and soul, I know that healing is best gift you will ever give yourself...

Life on life's terms

In life, there is a duality
whether we like it or not.
Good days, difficult ones…
It’s important to remember on
the challenging days not to be
flattened by our circumstances.

We can make the choice to
let difficulty harden or soften us,
feel victimized or empowered,
be defeated or stand strong,
give into fear or push past it,
put up walls or be compassionate.

We can’t shield ourselves from
the human experience,
but we can move more fluidly
through life by practicing acceptance
rather than resistance.

It’s helpful to remember that
pain is the catalyst for softening
our edges, expanding our hearts,
and gaining wisdom…

Doing our heart work

Love the smell of lavender
and rose-scented geraniums

For a woman to claim her power,
she has to look at herself deeply.
Though it can be daunting process,
courage ensures her success.

There are things she must do;
lessons to master, tests she must pass,
wrongs that need to be made right,
grief, anger, and forgiveness work.
She must let her guard down,
making friends with her heart.

In the beginning,
she will fall to her knees and weep
when she sees how she has hurt others
and how she has abandoned herself.
But only upon awakening to truth,
does her life begin to shift...

When she has faced her past,
all that will remain are the lessons
she learned and the gifts that
each one has given her;
wisdom, compassion, strength...

Again she will come to her knees,
not because she is sad,
but because she finally sees how
beautiful the world really is.

Transformation

I was so excited yesterday to discover caterpillars
all over on my parsley plant. They're a beautiful
metaphor for transformation...

To grow our own wings, it's crucial that we examine
all the parts of our lives that are holding us back
from being all that we can be...

When you discover
there is a happy place in you,
you will always have somewhere
wonderful to go.

you'll never know what you're missing.

Soulfulness

We live soulfully by trusting our gut, illuminating our hearts with tolerance, understanding, and compassion, rising above our obstacles, pushing past fear and limitation, finding the gifts in our suffering, and seeking truth rather than denial.

Trusting life

Some of my cards

Learn to accept life as it is!!!
Be a spectator rather than a controller.
Trust the unfolding of all things.
Know that the Universe is very wise.
All your experiences are an opportunity
for new awareness and growth.
There is nothing negative about life
when you look through the lens of
spiritual understanding.

Spiritual Laws

All creation is governed by certain principles. These Universal Laws apply to each and every one of us. By aligning with the laws, our lives become perfectly balanced with joy, freedom, health, love, peace, inspiration, and unlimited abundance.

Here are some of the consequences we face when we don't abide by the spiritual laws:

Law of Harmony - disharmonious actions that come back to bite you

Law of Resistance - what you resist will be brought to you again and again

Law of Reflection - what you see in others
is a mirror of yourself

Law of Abundance - negative thought patterns that create lack regarding money, love…

Law of Action - not taking steps to move
forward

Law of Flexibilityresisting life, causing unnecessary suffering

Law of Attraction - reaping what we sow,
getting what we believe we deserve

Listening to our conscience

When we are aligned with truth, compassion,
love for ourselves and others,
negative feelings such as fear, jealousy,
and judgement, will fall away.

When things fall apart...

There comes a time (especially for women who have had the responsibility of managing a lot of movings parts in their lives) that things begin to unravel…

It’s called GRACE…

Women have the tendency to be prideful about how much they can juggle. However, there is a dear price to pay because we lose sight of our emotional and physical needs, our dreams, our desires, our ability to have a healthy relationship with just ourselves. We get caught up in the busyness rather than finding quiet time to reflect and rejuvenate.

If things are unraveling in your world, perhaps it’s a blessing in disguise…

Fully living

Living without passion and
purpose is death to our spirit.
Desire it so deeply that you
won’t hesitate when you come
to a fork in the road where
you must choose between
your old life or a new one.
Though you may not know
what adventures lie ahead,
risk everything to find out.
For it is only in choosing
what matters to your soul
that you will know how
it feels to be truly alive.

A Soulful Life

Open your arms to what awaits you.
Remember to: travel light,
surrender your old life,
empty yourself of worldly desires,
listen carefully for the cues,
and dare to venture into unknown.
