A meaningful life

A friend shared this poem with me the other day...a reminder to treat all the situations in
our life as welcomed guests. If we want to create a life of peace, then we must
learn to accept everything that life brings. "For everything, there is a purpose"

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

This is Mechi...what a beautiful, sweet kitty...I loved her dearly. She died when
she was only six. Her life was short, but meaningful. She gave me so much.
Isn't that what we really want to create...a meaningful life...a life of
quality, not quantity.
Let's share our hearts freely, laugh a lot, create a purpose-filled life...
