We have all experienced dashed hopes, hurts, sorrows, deep disappointments, embarrassing moments... Beginning when we were born, we began to accumulate these painful memories because we didn't have the tools to resolve our pain. The memories became lodged in our mind. They are called triggers. Then what happens is that our trigger button gets pushed every time we experience a feeling similar to something in our memory bank. This causes us to suffer. The old trigger button regarding hurt, shame, loss... gets pushed again and again. We can break this never-ending cycle of suffering by cleaning out the pile of old memories.
