Being beautifully flawed

You may be surprised to know that what you think of yourself is far from true. Do you vacillate between building yourself up and tearing yourself down?

The truth is that you are loveable, beautiful, and gifted, just as you are. Although it's helpful to make improvements on yourself in whatever way you choose to, the most important goal is to formulate a kind, loving relationship with yourself right now. There's nothing you need to do to earn love. There is nothing you need to hide from others. We are all designed to be beautifully flawed...

Self-esteem

Picture yourself as a woman

who weeds out destructive behaviors like

blame, self-hatred, guilt…

She treats herself with the same respect

she extends to others.

Self-esteem

One of the damaging messages I got as a child was that no matter what I did, it wasn't not good enough. Being the kind of child who wanted to please the adults in her life, it crushed my spirit and faith in myself. It was a set-up for unworthiness, the inability to trust myself, and a disconnection from my authenticity. It has taken years of hard work to unravel and reprogram these core beliefs.

Being unique

I'm being a little more flexible with myself so
you may not see my blog every day. Happy Easter!

“If you celebrate your differentness, the world will, too.
It believes exactly what you tell it—
through the words you use to describe yourself,
the actions you take to care for yourself,
and the choices you make to express yourself.
Tell the world you are one-of-a-kind creation who came here
to experience wonder and spread joy.
 Expect to be accommodated."

Being the light

so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.”

Healing our fears and insecurities

There is a huge difference between "owning your power"
as opposed to "being in control".
When you know how powerful you really are,
you let go of your need to be in control.
Control is purely based on FEAR!
Ultimately, you give your power away when you give into fear,
when you try to micro-manage life...
instead of trusting your needs will be met.
When you're afraid, there's a good chance...
you'll be trying to micro-manage other people's lives too.
It may give you a false sense of safety.
You may call it love, being helpful, extending kindness to others...
but I will call it what it is; boundary crushing and disrespectful.
Interfering with someone's right to have their experiences,
trying to cripple them with your fears and insecurities,
will destroy any chance of having a lasting, healthy relationship with them.
There is nothing powerful about giving into fear.
It is only when we face and heal our fear...
that we own our true power.

Hustling for approval

When I heard the term "hustling for worthiness",
I thought of all the ways I used to hustle for approval
from my peers, men, bosses...
That's a lot of power to give away.
A big price for acceptance.
And guess what?
Because I didn't value myself enough,
I attracted a lot of unhealthy situations.
There is no blame here,
just consequences of my "unworthiness".

Making good choices

Do you try too hard to be perfect...
 rather than accept yourself?
Do you hold a belief that if you're perfect,
people will then accept you?
Do you hustle to get love?

The truth is this:
if you don't love and accept who you are,
you will either choose less than you deserve...
or sabotage relationships when they are good.

Opening your heart

I am writing this to remind you of your 'essence beauty.
This is the part of you that has nothing to do with age,
occupation, weight, history, or pain.
This is the soft, untouched, indelible you.
You can love yourself in this moment,
no matter what you have, or haven't done or been.

See past any masks, devices, or inventions that obscure your essence.

Remember your true purpose, WHICH is only Love.

If you cannot see or feel love, lie down now and cry;
it will cleanse your vision and free your heart...

Feeling worthy

“Like a Columbus of the heart, mind and soul
I have hurled myself off the shores of my own fears and limiting beliefs
to venture far out into the uncharted territories of my inner truth,
in search of what it means to be genuine
and at peace with who I really am.
I have abandoned the masquerade of living up to
the expectations of others and explored the new horizons
of what it means to be truly and completely me,
in all my amazing imperfection and most splendid insecurity.”

Honoring yourself

A colorful, yet flawed life
doesn't disqualify you from being a queen.
If anything, it's earned you the title.

A deeper understanding...

I lost a dear friend last year to cancer. In her final days, she was filled with peace and wisdom. With death at the door, she had reached an understanding that at the end of her life, ultimately, it was just her and God.

Because I was my friend's confident, I knew she had struggled for years trying to find happiness through her relationships. She had some success, but generally ended up returning to her original feeling of loneliness. The disappointment of not getting her needs met externally often caused her great pain. At the end of her life, she was surrounded by many people who loved her. Her fear of being alone had only been a fear. But it wasn't until she lay dying that she knew this to be true.

Feeling worthy

“You are always a valuable, worthwhile human being-

not because anybody says so, not because you're successful,

not because you make a lot of money-

but because you decide to believe it and for no other reason.”

― Wayne W. Dyer

Things in our path

“Everything that happens to you is a reflection of what you believe about yourself. We cannot outperform our level of self-esteem. We cannot draw to ourselves more than we think we are worth.”

"...choice is a divine teacher, for when we choose we learn that nothing is ever put in our path without a reason.”

Seeking love

“When you need to be loved, you take love wherever you can find it. When you are desperate to be loved, feel love, know love, you seek out what you think love should look like. When you find love, or what you think love is, you will lie, kill, and steal to keep it. But learning about real love comes from within. It cannot be given. It cannot be taken away. It grows from your ability to re-create within yourself, the essence of loving experiences you have had in your life.”

Loving yourself

 taken at the beach yesterday...

Living life without self-courtship has a high cost. We risk losing our sensuality, our senses, precious moments with those we love, our smile, and our joy. When we romance ourselves, it prepares a fertile garden for a profusion of love to bloom in all areas of our lives. We regain passion and now becomes a moment not to be missed!

Doing our best

We learn wisdom from failure
much more than from success.
We often discover what will do
by finding out what will not do.
And probably he who never made a mistake
never made a discovery.

Being yourself

“The Bhagavad Gita...says that it is better to live your own destiny imperfectly
than to live an imitation of somebody else’s life with perfection.
So now I have started living my own life.
Imperfect and clumsy as it may look,
it is resembling me now, thoroughly.”

Feeling good

Picture yourself as a woman

who no longer heeds

the critical voice in her head.

The volume of inadequacy has been turned down.
