Riding the waves

The best relationships in our lives are the best
not because they have been the happiest ones,
they are that way because they have stayed strong
through the most tormentful of storms.”

Keeping an open heart

"Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken.
If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one,
not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries;
avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness.
But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change.
It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”

My poem

Star Gazer

A bright little star fell down from the sky.
The little girl ran barefoot across the earth…
catching it with open arms.
This beautiful star glowed with warmth…
inviting her to bring it closer...
to her heart.

She grew to love the little star.
But there came a time when she knew...
she must let her star return to the sky.
She knew she must find the strength…
to say goodbye.
And so she did.

Nowadays when the moon is full
and the stars are twinkling…
she longingly looks to the sky...
searching for the star that shines the brightest…
for she knows it was once her star…
and in some mysterious way, always will be.

Unconditional love

“And still, after all this time,
the Sun has never said to the Earth,
"You owe me."
Look what happens with love like that.
It lights up the sky.”

Living authentically

“We all need someplace to fling all of our troubles, cares, worries, joys, and sorrows, trusting that we will be met with wide-open arms." Dr. Robin Smith

*****

The quote is so true and is exactly the reason why I am putting together a new 6-week workshop called "Reclaiming Your Power". It is for women who are motivated to do their personal work in an intimate setting. We all need a safe place to be who we are and feel what we feel, without any pretenses. If you are ready for some positive changes in your life, as well as, meeting other women who are motivated to be authentic too, contact me for more information.

Letting love in

Love is all around us,
but we're in the mental and emotional habit of deflecting it.
With every attitude of attack or defense,
we send love away.
With every perception of anyone's guilt,
we tell love to leave.
With every thought of limited possibility,
we tell miracles we don't want them.
And then we wonder why we're depressed.

Feeling worthy of love

We may be more comfortable

with people who hurt or abandon us

because we fear love more than

we fear rejection and loss.

Unconditional love

Intimate relationships with others

“We cultivate love when we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen and known, and when we honor the spiritual connection that grows from that offering with trust, respect, kindness and affection.

Love is not something we give or get; it is something that we nurture and grow, a connection that can only be cultivated between two people when it exists within each one of them – we can only love others as much as we love ourselves.

Shame, blame, disrespect, betrayal, and the withholding of affection damage the roots from which love grows. Love can only survive these injuries if they are acknowledged, healed and rare.”

Real love

If we feel incomplete, we look for others to complete us.
But real love is complete.
That means no matter what the circumstances are with someone,
we accept and love them as they are, not as we want them to be.

Real love doesn't require giving too much of ourselves.
If we do, it's fear (co-dependency) revealing itself.

When we give too much, we bring an agenda into the relationship.
We're trying to get something from the other person.
We are coming from a state of lack...
a wounded part of us that feels desperate for love.
Instead of bringing our attention to the part of us that needs...
to be loved and nurtured,
we attempt to get the reassurance from others.

Co-dependent love is not real love.
Real love has no expectations-
it doesn't seek others to fulfill it.

Love and fear

One of my new drawings for a children's greeting card

****

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love.
When we are afraid, we pull back from life.
When we are in love,
we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance.
We need to learn to love ourselves first,
in all our glory and our imperfections.
If we cannot love ourselves,
we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create.
Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness
and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”

Opening your heart

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

Seeking love

“When you need to be loved, you take love wherever you can find it. When you are desperate to be loved, feel love, know love, you seek out what you think love should look like. When you find love, or what you think love is, you will lie, kill, and steal to keep it. But learning about real love comes from within. It cannot be given. It cannot be taken away. It grows from your ability to re-create within yourself, the essence of loving experiences you have had in your life.”

Mindfulness

Picture yourself as a woman

is mindful of those who don't love well

so she doesn't set herself up

to be abandoned or misused.

“Growing into your future with health and grace and beauty doesn’t have to take all your time.
It rather requires a dedication to caring for yourself
as if you were rare and precious, which you are,
and regarding all life around you as equally so, which it is."

A forgiving heart

Picture yourself as a woman

who may feel flattened at times,

by judgment and rejection,

but she remains soft and vulnerable.

****

The real gold in a relationship is not just how well people get along with each other, but their commitment to sustain the relationship even when things are rocky...to weather the storms...to overlook pride...to forgive easily.
With our hearts, we look deeper than the mistakes that happen along the way...the misunderstandings, the hurt feelings...

The beauty of life

Picture yourself as woman

who lives beyond her five senses.

She sees every situation

as an expression of the purest love.
