Trusting your intuition

The thing that matters the most in life

is the connection to your deeper self.

Without it, you will live unconsciously.

Living from the soul

I believe we are all born with a purpose in life.
I used to think my purpose was to have a perfect life:
a perfect job, husband, children, house....,
because as a child,
I was conditioned to believe that was the goal.

I spent a lot of years buying into this belief.
I had long periods of time where...
I had everything I thought was suppose to bring happiness,
but couldn't escape the aching, empty, unfulfilled place in me...
 that longer for something more.
I had a lot of wonderful years where I should have had contentment and peace,
but I didn't.

Today I am fulfilling my purpose.
As a result, I feel a deep sense of peace and joy...
because I am connected to what feels really true for me.
I listen to my gut and follow where it leads me.
It leads me further and further away from...
the fairy tale story I once bought into.

Mindfulness

Picture yourself as a woman

is mindful of those who don't love well

so she doesn't set herself up

to be abandoned or misused.

“Growing into your future with health and grace and beauty doesn’t have to take all your time.
It rather requires a dedication to caring for yourself
as if you were rare and precious, which you are,
and regarding all life around you as equally so, which it is."

Trusting our instincts

How well do you trust your instincts? I grew up in a home where things weren't as they appeared to be. To the outside world, our family probably seemed normal. But the truth was there was abuse, neglect, unhealthy thinking... No one ever questioned it. Even though it felt wrong as a child, I thought I was the crazy one.
Today I still have to be careful not to fall in the old trap of putting trust in someone who isn’t trustworthy. I have a tendency to shut down my instincts, just as I did growing up, when I am trying to fit in.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift
and the rational mind is a faithful servant.
We have created a society that honors the servant
and has forgotten the gift.

Using your intuition

Do you believe everything your mind tells you? In other words, are you aware of the thousands of thoughts that run through your head every day that are mostly garbage...a continuous chatter of negative stories about yourself and about others? That is the ego tricking you into thinking you are better or less than someone else. It may tell you that you are alone, that no one loves you, that no one understands, that people are out to get you, blaaablaaablaa...

Don't give it power! Don't buy into the sad or scary stories. If you do, you will end up feeling crappy.

There are useful things we can do with our minds like balancing a checkbook, doing a crossword puzzle....but learn to rely more on what your intuition tells you. There is so much wisdom in you, but you won't find it in your thoughts. Learn the difference between your ego and your intuition. It will make a huge difference in how you feel.

Hear your inner voice telling you...

I haven't been playing at my art table lately so you're seeing previous artwork.

*******

It's impossible for me to ignore things that don't feel right anymore. That includes my actions. Paying attention to how my gut reacts to a situation, helps me stay on track. For example, a couple days ago, I put pictures on facebook of some friends and I having lunch. They were sweet  pictures; I wanted to share them. But I kept getting a nagging feeling that shouldn't publish any pictures without permission. Rather than assume my friends would be okay with it, I deleted them instead.

If you listen to the wisdom of your intuition, it will never misguide you. Put your trust in it rather than the voice in your head that argues against it. Don't get caught up in rationalizing, blaming, or defending. Hear your inner voice telling you....

This little guy is someones Christmas present (not mine). Isn't he the cutest?
He's only eight weeks old. One day he will be bigger than me.
My son, Jeremy, and I.
My partner Jack, and Salina, Jeremy's girlfriend.
