The highest branch

Loving myself means...
I will continue to follow the road of recovery...
creating the best life possible.
I will be of service to others...
fulfilling my purpose here.
I will always strive to do better...
reaching for the highest branch on the tree.

What you love, you empower
And what you fear, you empower
And what you empower, you attract.

Matters of the heart

 Star Gazer
A bright little star fell down from the sky.
The little girl ran barefoot across the earth…
catching it with open arms.
This beautiful star glowed with warmth…
inviting her to bring it closer...
 to her heart.

She grew to love the little star.
But there came a time when she knew...
she must let her star return to the sky.
She knew she must find the strength…
to say goodbye.
And so she did.
Nowadays when the moon is full
and the stars are twinkling…
she longingly looks to the sky...
searching for the star that shines the brightest…
for she knows it was once her star…
and in some mysterious way, always will be.
I wrote this after the loss of a dear friend.

Each friend represents a world in us,
a world possibly not born until they arrive,
and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.”

A change in perception

It's fun to play with shadows when photographing.

She let go of suffering...
She knew that pain was part of life,
but suffering would soften...

if she changed her perception of the experience.
She also learned not to focus so much on the pain.
Pain was her teacher.

It motivated her to change, move forward, and grow.
“The truth is that our finest moments
are most likely to occur when we are feeling
deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled.
For it is only in such moments,
 propelled by our discomfort,
that we are likely to step out of our ruts
and start searching for different ways or truer answers.”

The crooked path

Loving myself means...
I feel peaceful and accepting of my mistakes.
I have made many errors along the way...
and also been affected by the errors of others.
There is nothing to judge.
Everyone is doing their best.
Out of every experience...
 I've had the opportunity...
 to learn something valuable.
My little friend peeking out at me...

"Thank you for that experience.”

Lesson on self-care

Loving myself means...
I never have to work at winning...
 the approval of others.
I will be cautious of people...

who offer love

 along with conditions.

Be content with what you have;
Rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
The whole world belongs to you.

Look at her...watching, watching, watching...
Loving myself means...
I enjoy the gifts that life offers me...
knowing that I am worthy.
I open my arms widely...
to abundance...
allowing the blessings to flow in.
Feelings of gratitude...
fill my heart.
Gratitude, like faith, is a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it grows...
To be grateful is to find blessings in everything,..  Alan Cohen

A blissful life

This mischievous little fellow was having a good time playing in the tree.
I got his pic when he stopped to observe me. I love interacting with nature.
Definition of soul; our spiritual nature
What do you think your soul longs for?
I'm not talking about things like knowledge,
material possessions, a new job, relationships....
Do you think your soul yearns to expand...
to reach new heights...
to be free?
Free of attachments to people, things, outcomes...
free of any restricted beliefs about lack or limitations...
free of co-dependency...
free of fear...
free to be who you are?

Ask yourself the question...
"what do I long for"...
see if you can touch the deep ache in you...
that cries out for more...
hear the whispering voice that says...

All transformation begins with an intense burning desire to be transformed.

Wayne Dyer

Forgiving ourselves

She reclaimed her innocence...
In forgiving herself...
for the mistakes...
she made in the past,
it helped her to move forward...
with a lighter, happy heart.
Her past no longer had a hold on her.
She was free from the bondage of self.

you live more richly...” - Anne Morrow Lindbergh

The power of our actions

Grooming time!
I think he missed his beak.
Awww...that's better.
Do you know that for every negative action there is a consequence? Does this mean we
need to fear life and how it works? That we have to be perfect?
No, not at all. Making mistakes is the way we learn. But it's good to be informed...
Here's some of life's rules; the law of attraction (we attract what we think)...the law of
cause and affect (for every action that is a reaction)...we reap what we sow...what goes
around, comes around. When we fully understand how the laws work, we can use them
to our advantage, helping us to create a better lives.
You have more power than you know. Use it wisely. Pay attention to your thoughts and
deeds. Take the right actions. Treat others as you wish to be treated. See everyone as a
wonderful human being. And let go of judgement, especially about yourself.
Faith is an oasis in the heart
which can never be reached by the caravan of thinking.

Loving who you are

Loving myself means...
I won't compare myself to others.
If there are things...

 about myself I'm unhappy with...

I can change them.

As I work to create change...

I will not judge myself...

but instead...

I will be loving, patient, and kind.

within yourself that you have built against it.”

We are what we think

Monday I was told I was good.
I felt relieved.
Tuesday I was ignored.
I felt invisible.
Wednesday I was snapped at.
I began to doubt myself.
On Thursday I was rejected.
Now I was afraid.
On Saturday I was thanked...
My soul relaxed.
On Sunday I was left alone...
Monday I was told I was good...

Isn't it easily we get caught up in what other's think of us
and the affect it can have on our happiness?

We are what we think...

Unspoken words

Taken last night on my first purple dragonfly
One of the most damaging things that we can do to a relationship is to stuff our feelings.
The "unsaid" things, the things we're afraid to tell someone, may end up being what
destroys the relationship. We may fear hurting someones feelings, but in the long run,
better to hurt their feelings than lose them.
Sometimes I have to push myself to be direct. It's not always easy, but I feel good about it
afterwards. It builds trust (in myself and with others), eliminating future problems. Too
often I played the game of pretending that: I don't doesn't matter...I'm fine...
In all fairness, many of us were brought up to ignore our feelings; a pattern that can be
deeply ingrained. It's up to us to break the cycle of learn
be honest in expressing how we feel...risking be who we really are.

"Co-dependence is an emotional and behavioral defense system which was adopted
by our egos in order to meet our need to survive as a child. Because we had no tools
for reprogramming our egos and healing our emotional wounds, the effect is that as
an adult we keep reacting to the programming of our childhood and do not get our
needs met - our emotional, mental, Spiritual, or physical needs. Co-dependence allows
us to survive physically but causes us to feel empty... Co-dependence is a defense system
that causes us to wound ourselves."

With empty hands

When everything is stripped away…
when our hands, our minds, our hearts are bare…
when we are no longer fighting to get our way…
tired of the struggle…

chewed up by life...

alone, lost, spent…
we get quiet, be-friending the silence…
it is only then, when we are raw, willing, open…
that we can hear the sweet voice of God whispering…
“You are not alone…
give me your hand, my beloved...
let me lead you…
trust me…
for I am here”

FYI - Still playing with writing poetry...writing isues of my heart...wrote this one today.

We turn to God for help
when our foundations are shaking,
only to learn it is God who is shaking them.

The year for freedom

In January, I declared this year would be about freedom...freedom from fear of any kind. As
some of you know, I ended up in the hospital right after I made my brave declaration. At first,
I was terrified being in the hospital. Around the third day though, I had a profound spiritual experience. To this day, I can't articulate what happened, but I can tell you that I went from
feeling terror to a state of pure bliss. Here I was lying in a hospital bed being tested, poked and
prodded, yet feeling completely content and peaceful to be there.
Since then, I've had many more opportunities to face fear. A couple of weeks ago I overcame
my fear of public speaking. I had lugged this fear around since I was 13.
This morning I decided that I'm ready to work on my fear of road trips. Having FMS, I get uncomfortable being in a car for periods of time. And because stress can make me sick for weeks,
I have avoided traveling. Now I'm ready to face it. I'm making some plans...
I also discovered I had fear concerning love. The loss of my daughter rocked my trust in love for
a long time; in deep, unexplainable ways. Because my heart felt so fragile, I wanted to protect it.
But to protect it meant to be guarded. It was hard to see myself as guarded because grief had also softened my heart, giving me more compassion. Anyway, I've been working on the fear this year.
I feel a big changes...not so afraid anymore.
This has been the most amazing, transforming, challenging, awesome year. But my work isn't done.
I have more hurdles to jump, but fear no longer has me in it's clenches. I feel freer than I ever have before. It has made a huge difference in how I interact in the world.
Is fear holding you back? Find the courage to face your fears. Do the things you think you can't.

Dream big        Live large       Love deeply

The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.
